![]() ![]() We plant trees to offset our footprint as a start, but I aim to soon be circular in terms of materials and energy used. The planet may be obvious: we try to keep our impact on the environment as low as we can. To me, there are four pillars to sustainability at Yoink: planet, people, clients and projects. Although being good for the planet is an important part of what we do, I personally believe that sustainability is about much more than planting trees. The world is changing and we want to be part of the solution(s) rather than the problem. Yes, sustainability is an important value at Yoink. In addition to being great ways to learn, they can also be fun trips and opportunities to contribute to the Java community. It almost feels like a no-brainer to me, but at Yoink, there is also plenty of room for participating in meetups, brown bag sessions, courses and conferences. As a bonus, we can teach each other and I love learning about other areas of expertise. I know from experience that diversity in backgrounds can be a great asset to a team. At Yoink, I want to build a place where people can grow to their full potential.Įven if you are not the "standard IT-person", or don't have a degree in Computer Science, you can still be a great developer. Whether it is to simply answer a question, help a colleague understand something, coach a younger developer or explain a concept to a larger audience, sharing helps everyone involved. ![]() To me, sharing knowledge has always been of great importance and even a source of energy. Some games work just fine over webcams and beers and wine can be shipped around the country.Įven after showing clients that remote work can be just as productive, I can't wait to organize board game nights, sporty activities, back-yard BBQs, R&D days and regular drinks or lunch at the office. Social gatherings were mostly online, but even then there is room for fun. Under normal circumstances, we would have been able to do all sort of fun activities, but COVID forced us to be creative. Fun can be found in many activities and should be promoted on a wider scale. I believe work without play is a sure-fire way to numb the mind. Centered in Java and the other JVM-languages, we have a strong presence in the market as well as the community. On March 1st 2020, I partnered with OpenValue and launched Yoink, a new IT consultancy company focused on fun, knowledge sharing and sustainability. After being a freelancer for over 10 years in the Java/JVM DevOps world, I was looking to build something that was more than just me. Last year marked the start of a long-standing dream. ![]() With our challenge to grow in front of us, it is high time to introduce Yoink to the world. Yoink was founded as part of a dream to build a group of professionals, ready to push themselves, their clients and potentially the world to a higher level. It returned starting with a February 2022 release of the app. After what was no doubt the weirdest year on many fronts, it is time to look forward. (Clipboard History left Yoink with the release of Big Sur due to significant changes Apple made in handling user actions. The developer has a blog entry that explains privacy features built into this feature. ![]() You can view Clipboard History in its own window or via a highly configurable widget. While not as rich or offering as deep a history as standalone Clipboard-extending apps like PasteBot, it’s a nice adjunct. Every time you use the macOS Copy or Cut feature, the Clipboard’s contents are added to Yoink’s Clipboard History. You can also use F5 as a shortcut for multiple actions: tap to show/hide the shelf double-press to save the Clipboard’s contents and long press to restore files that were just removed.Īlso included in Yoink is Clipboard history, an option you can enable to retain up to 36 previously copied items. The app lets you install a PDF service (via Preferences > Extensions), so you can save a PDF into its shelf directly from a Print dialog. Yoink supports typical macOS operations available in the Finder, like force-copy, which leaves the original in place if it would otherwise be moved force-move, which always deletes the original and makes a copy in Yoink QuickLook for preview as well as renaming, moving to a specific location, or deleting the item or items. Or you might drag a set of images into a web-page editor, email message, or word-processing document. Actions can be as simple as dragging items to another location in the Finder after collecting them across multiple apps. You can then act on each of them separately or together, including grouping or ungrouping items. The shelf creates a separate stack for each item or group of items added. ![]()
